They make all kinds of pills — some for headaches, some for joint pain, some for various internal health functions, some full of vitamins and many, many other kinds.
But someone has yet to make a pill that makes hard reality earlier to swallow.
The Bartlesville High School swimming teams could have used one Tuesday (Dec. 10) after the Jenks aqua-titians left them in their wake during a tri-meet that included Tulsa Union.
Jenks girls powered past the defending state champion Bartlesville Lady Bruins, 127-43, in the female competition. But Bartlesville girls bolted past their Tulsa Union challengers, 132-31.
On the boys’ side, Bartlesville knocked off Union, 120-37, but fell to Jenks, 110-60.
Being that both Bartlesville squads have championship aspirations, the gauntlet was thrown down by Jenks.
“Jenks is the defending boys State Champion and both (Jenks) squads are the favorites to win 6A titles this year,” said Bartlesville head coach Chad Englehart.
Bartlesville turned in some strong showings — including a boys 400m freestyle relay championship by Parker Shoesmith — but still lost soundly, he continued, adding: “We have two good months of training and growth to prepare for Regionals and State in hopes of a better outcome.”

GIRLS
Jenks swept first place in all the events to hand the Lady Bruins their first regular season loss, while Bartlesville piled up many of its points on third-to-sixth-place finishes.
An important addendum is that a few of Bartlesville’s normally high point scorers were apparently not in the lineup.
Bartlesville nailed down a pair of second place finishes — Erin Roper in the 400m freestyle; and the 200m freestyle relay, coming in just three seconds behind Jenks. Members of the Lady Bruin relay foursome included Ashlynn Taylor, Gabrielle Burke, Roper and Anna Wells.
Lady Bruins with multiple second or third-place finishes included:
Burke (200m free relay, 2nd; 50m free, 3rd; 100m breast, 3rd; 200m medley relay, 3rd).
Daisy Droege (100m back, 3rd; 200m medley relay, 3rd; 400m free relay, 3rd).

Jenks grabbed the top spot in every event except for Shoesmith’s title in the 400m freestyle.
