Following are reports for recent area sport games.

__________

BASEBALL: DEWEY 14, MIDWEST CITY 7

Easton Davis brought the full house — including the garage — to help the Class 3A Bulldoggers stun Class 6A Midwest City in an Oklahoma City tourney last week.

Davis ripped a double and three singles, scored three times, drove in two runs and threw two-no-hit innings to seal the win.

Also driving in two runs each for Dewey were Nathan Sloan, Levi Wilson, Eddie Rice and Jay Murguia.

Murguia also earned the pitching victory in a relief role. Lathe Griggs had started on the bump and gave way to Parker Garrison in the second inning.

Dewey coach Riley Allen installed Murguia on the bump in the third inning. He gave up two hits and didn’t allow a run. Davis finished up the final two frames.

Midwest City led through three innings, 6-3, until Dewey’s offense unloaded with nine runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Eight different Doggers contributed at least one hit, including Cooper Wood and Rice with a double apiece. Sloan, Garrison, Rice and Murguia lashed two hits each.

Dewey improved to 9-4.

__________

BASEBALL: DEWEY 10, KIEFER 5

Two big innings boosted Dewey to its 10th season victory.

The Doggers rumbled to a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the second and added four more runs in the bottom of the fifth (they also had added a score in the third inning) to burst ahead, 10-3.

Kiefer’s mini-rally in the top of the sixth made the final margin a tad closer.

Once again, the Doggers (10-4) — who are coached by Riley Allen — churned out sweet extra-base hits like an old-fashioned ice cream maker.

Layne Gastel, Eddie Rice and Jackson Fox each delivered doubles while Levi Wilson lashed a triple.

Bryaden Ringer gonged Kiefer pitchers for three RBI, followed by Rice with two.

Chase Miller contributed both a sacrifice and a sacrifice fly.

Karson Johnson started on the bump for Dewey but middle reliever Wilson labored 4.1 innings to collect the win. He allowed only three hits and one earned run. Easton Davis closed out the triumph with a perfect two-thirds inning of relief.

O. Murphy doubled and singled for Kiefer. R. Stephens added two singles. Landon Ruggieri absorbed the loss on the bump.

__________

BASEBALL: DEWEY 10, GORE 4

During action last week in Oklahoma City, the Doggers tore past Gore. Lathe Griggs earned the pitching win in relief while striking out six during his 2.2-inning stint. Cooper Wood had drawn the starting nod and left after 4.1 innings.

Jackson Fox plated three runs to fuel Dewey’s attack.

Layne Gastel stole two runs.

In the sixth inning, Eddie Rice drove home one of seven runs after being plunked with a pitch with the bases loaded. Fox then singled home two runs and Easton Davis grounded out to bring the next tally home. Nathan Sloan followed with a two-run safety and Gastel singled home a run.

In other tourney action, Norman handed Dewey a rare lopsided loss, 18-2, and Dewey belted Blackwell, 11-3.

In the latter game, Gastel jumped on Blackwell with three singles and drove in four runs. Levi Willson added a single and three RBI.

Jay Murguia and Rice both doubled; Rice and Davis each plated one run, Davis on a sacrifice fly.

Gastel, K. Lackey and Sloan stole two bases apiece.

__________

BASEBALL: COPAN 22, FOYIL 3

The Hornets pitched by committee with Zane Stricklin, Zane Agnew and Xavier Allston. Shooter Brewington handled catching duties.

__________

BASEBALL: PORTER 13, COPAN 8

Brewington drew the starting pitching nod, but struggled, partly due to defensive errors.

Jarrett Shambles moved to the mound “and calmed them down considerably,” said Copan coach Daniel Wren.

Copan’s offensive highlights included a walk, single and double by Josh Thomas; two walks and a single by Shambles; a double by Stricklin; and a single by Agnew.

__________

COPAN 8, PORTER 4

Allston snapped off the complete game pitching win, with Brewington as his receiver.

“He really had good stuff,” said Wren. “He’s got that natural lefty movement.”

Shambles belted a double and a triple and drove in four runs. Stricklin finished with a double, single and walk.

Alston singled and walked.
