The Lady Bruins continued their focused romp to success after adding the Bixby Tournament championship to their growing collection of accomplishments.

No. 1 singles player Abby Shelley shuttled to victory to remain unbeaten on the season.

Claire Auschwitz and Ava Kate Craig also remained undefeated in No. 2 doubles division.

Ava Kelly scrapped to fourth place in the No. 2 singles division.

JUNIOR HIGH TENNIS

The Bartlesville net neophytes continued to show a lion’s share of fight during a tournament last week.

The boys’ team and girls’ team each placed third in their competitions.

“This was a few of these kids' first tournaments they’ve ever been to, which they did amazing at,” said Emily Hubler.

BOYS — Gavin O’Brien brushed past most of his opposition to finish second in the No. 2 singles group. At No. 1 singles, Brayden Block claimed sixth place. The No. 1 doubles twosome of Duncan Cummings and Cameron Moulton grabbed fourth place. Finishing sixth at No. 2 doubles was the team of Vishwa Senthil-Kumar and Jaxton Snelson.

GIRLS — Natalie Kane rose above all challengers to win the No. 2 singles title. This was just her third-ever tournament, noted Hubler. At No. 1 singles, Gracie Southwick sparkled to finish as the runner-up. At No. 1 doubles, Maci Artherton and Alexiah Glenn lodged into sixth place. Paige Lindblom and Sophie Miller earned the title of consolation champions at No. 2 doubles.

No. 1 doubles team Bella Gustafson and Julia McKissick went head-on against bad luck and still managed to finish as the runner-up duo in their division. Unfortunately, they saw their perfect season forced into a detour.

The culprit for the No. 2 doubles pair was injury, tennis coach Bryan Reese said.

No doubt they’ll swing back onto the winning highway when they return to full force.
