Following are reports from recent area high school action.

_________

DEWEY BASEBALL

It’s very simple.

The Doggers are a very, very, very good team. And a powerful one.

After sweeping Keys (Parkhill) by a combined run total of 24-4 on Tuesday, Dewey improved to 14-6 on the season.

In 20 games, Dewey has scored 10-or-more runs 11 times and allowed three or fewer runs 7 times.

Riley Allen is the Doggers head coach.

Following are summaries of Tuesday’s wins:

DEWEY 12, KEYS 1 — Karson Johnson snapped off a two-hitter and struck out eight batters en route to the pitching win. Parker Garrison was on the receiving end of the mound classic from the left-handed Johnson.

Garrison also hammered a double and a triple and drove in three runs while batting in the two-hole.

Nathan Sloan and Eddie Rice — who doubled and lifted a sacrifice fly — both recorded two RBI.

Sloan boasted a 3-for-3 day at the plate.

Other hard hitting Doggers included Levi Wilson with a double and single, Chase Miller with two singles and three RBI and Layne Gastel with two singles.

Easton Davis and Brayden Ringer added one RBI apiece.

Davis singled home Dewey’s first run.

Garrison pounded a bases-loaded triple in the top of the third to put the game out of reach.

_____

DEWEY 12, KEYS 2 — Garrison blasted a double for his third extra-base hit of the day. He also drove in two runs.

Gastel exploded at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI.

Eight different Doggers contributed at least one RBI: Garrison (two), Davis (two), Wilson (two), Murguia (one), Sloan (lone), Gastel (one), Ringer (one) and Miller (one).

Ringer and Davis contributed a sacrifice fly apiece; Garrison and Ringer both were hit with a pitch twice. J. Davis succeeded in one of Dewey’s six stolen bases. Wilson pilfered two bases.

Gastel started on the bump and worked three innings, allowing two hits, one earned run and striking out six. Cooper Wood finished up the final three innings by giving up two hits, no earned runs and whiffing four.

Gastel and Wood combined for a four-hitter with two walks, one earned run and 10 strikeouts.

Garrison’s two-run two-bagger in the second inning set the tone for Dewey.
