TUMBLE RUMBLE: BGC FLEXES MUSCLES IN SEASON OPENER

Paced by Lydia Pierce and Raynie Ketcher the Bartlesville Gymnastics Club (BGC) bolted out of the gates to open the USA Gymnastics season with a gusty gallop.

The BGC unleashed a force of more than 50 girls in the 58th Annual Carnival Invitational, including competitions in USA Gymnastics, USA Gymnastics X-Cel, AAU and AAU X-Cel.

Bartlesville warriors captured 14 All-Around crowns among all the divisions.

As mentioned, Pierce won the USA Gymnastics Level 10 title — the most difficult division in the competition.

Pierce pieced together four top-four finishes (winning the floor exercise at 9.2) to win the All-Around crown (35.025) in the Level 10 battles.

Ketcher finished second All-Around in Level 10 (34.7), including winning the uneven bars event (8.75).

Pierce, Ketcher and Kinlee Littleford (winner of the balance beam at 9.2 and fourth All-Around) combined to earn the team championship at Level 10 for the BGC, which is guided by Lorrie Bertolet and her staff of dedicated coaches.

Bartlesville finished second in both the USA Gymnastics Level 8 and Level 7 divisions.

The USA Gymnastics umbrella features the most challenging and competitive of all the divisions.

Bartlesville’s other USA Gymnastics All-Around gold medalists included: Chloe Canipe (Level 7, Sr. Division, 36.7), Brooklyn Sylvester (Level 7, JrB Division, 37.425), and Harper Maudlin (Level 8, JrA Division, 37.65).

AAU All-Around champs for the BGC included: Marley Dunlap (A2, Sr. Division, 37.625), Elaine Gregory (A2, JrA Division, 36.6), Alicia Landers (A3, SrB Division, 34.45), Piper Haymaker (A3, JrA Division, 34.275), and Violet Smith (A3, JrB Division, 32.975).

Bartlesville’s All-Around champ in AAU X-Cel Copper competition was Atley Brzezinski (All, 35.025).

In the X-Cel Gold battles Bartlesville earned three All-Around titles— Rylee Laxson (JrC Division, 37.85), Brinley Everitt (JrB Division, 37.45) and Haylee Clark (JrA Division, 37.775).

Rounding out the BGC’s All-Around dynamos was Alla Calhoun (JrB, 39.075) in the X-Cel Silver field.

Calhoun also owned the singular distinction for the BGC by winning gold on all four events — the vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise.

Dunlap, Smith and Clark each won first place on three events.
