BARTLESVILLE AREA SPORTS REPORT
The following is a roundup of Bartlesville soccer:
BOYS SOCCER
In their regular season opener, the Bruins dropped a hard-fought decision to Tulsa Union, 2-0, on a blustery, chilly night in Bartlesville last Tuesday,
Bruin assistant coach Hosteen Walsh praised the performance of Clayton Bastings in goal.
Although the Bruin offense came up blank, he’s looking for Austin Bastings to provide some future firepower after Bastings notched a hat-trick in preseason action against Tulsa Washington.
The Bruins fell 7-0 to Norman North last Friday.
Next up, the Bruins travel Tuesday to Ponca City.

GIRLS SOCCER
All things considered, Lady Bruin head coach Spencer White proffered very positive remarks for his team’s performance in a shootout loss last Thursday to Hilldale.
The teams tied, 1-1, at the end of regulation, but Hillsdale won the penalty kick session.
“It was a great game,” said White, a former Bartlesville and Oklahoma Wesleyan University standout as a player. “It was a super-hard fought game. … We battled all the way through and the girls did great.”
Anchoring the defense were veteran goalie Lillian Weimer and the defensive line of Katen Bottorff, Chloe Shahan and Maci Alleman.
Bottorff scored Bartlesville’s goal — off a free kick — in regulation.
In addition, “One of the best things we did was our rate of possession,” White said. “And the grit to battle it to the end.”
The Lady Bruins — who White labelled as “a very, very new team” compared to last season — will look to knock off Ponca City next Tuesday in Ponca City.
