BARTLESVILLE AREA SPORTS REPORT

Following are reports of Bartlesville High School softball action.

__________

Tuesday

Home runs bolted over the Bartlesville Softball Complex fence like startled pheasants fleeing with frenzied fright from hunters.

By the time the Bartlesville High School Lady Bruins had bagged two wins they had launched eight dingers into the horizon.

In the first contest, the Lady Bruins (6-2) had bombarded Chelsea — ranked No. 14 in the state (Class 4A) — by nine runs, 11-2. In the second game, Bartlesville — which is ranked No. 8 in the state (Class 6A) — routed Tulsa Union (No. 19, 6A), 15-6

The Lady Bruins are coached by Kyle Minton.

BARTLESVILLE 11, CHELSEA 2 — the Lady Bruins scored runs in five different innings to bury Chelsea with steady aplomb — and three bombs.

Right fielder Jazmine Campbell sent two screamers over the wall and Lexi Durao added another.

Campbell also finished with a double and four RBI; Durao drove in two runs.

Chloe Robbins ripped a double and a triple and plated a pair of tallies.

Savannah Alden added a double, two singles and one RBI.

Delivering two singles was Erin Bridendolph, while Isabell Daniels and Kenzie Denny each lifted a sacrifice fly. Some of the Lady Bruins scoring one-or-more runs included Maddie Czaja, Lola Redington and Paisley Bryant.

Alden also pitched the distance, snapping off a nine-hitter with five walks and one strikeout, with Madie Nachbor as her catcher.

T. Wisdom and T. Jones each drove in a run for Chelsea.

BARTLESVILLE 15, TULSA UNION 6 — Tulsa Union didn’t go down easy. Through five-and-a-half innings, Bartlesville clung to an 8-6 lead.

But a seven-run spot in the bottom of the sixth secured Bartlesville’s run-rule victory.

Five Lady Bruins lashed shots over the fence — Alden, Bridendolph, Durao, Redington and Karmandy Marsheck.

Bridendolph also doubled on her way to a two-RBI day.

Alden plated four runs, while Durao, Redington and Marsheck each added two RBI.

Nachbor and Redington contributed a sacrifice fly apiece.

Marsheck spun a complete-game nine hitter with four walks.

L. Ford and T. Williams both homered for Union and between them drove in five of the team’s six runs.

Thursday

The Lady Bruins won big and felt the opposite side of the hammer during the opening day of the Broken Arrow/Tulsa Union Tournament.

MOORE 12, BARTLESVILLE 3 — Maddie Czaja hammered two doubles and drove in a run and Madie Nachbor ripped three singles.

The offensive highlights dwindled from there. Other than a RBI apiece by Erin Bridendolph and Isabell Daniels, there weren’t a whole lot of fireworks in Bartlesville’s offensive attack.

Savannah Alden pitched the distance for Bartlesville. Moore scored four unearned runs.

B. Saenz doubled and drove in two runs for Moore. K. Curtis twirled a nice pitching outing, scattering eight hits.

BARTLESVILLE 20, CHARLES PAGE SAND SPRINGS 4 — Bartlesville burst to a 10-1 lead in the first inning and never looked back.

Alden walloped two homers and drove in five runs. Jazmine Campbell added one horizon blast and four RBI.

Erin Bridendolph doubled and single and brought in three runs; Lola Redington added a triple and two RBI.

Czaja, Daniels and Kenzie Denny also contributed a double apiece.

Karmandy Marsheck twirled a pitching classic for Bartlesville while scattering eight hits and giving up just one earned run.

L. Harger drove in a run for Sand Springs. S. Briscoe suffered the pitching defeat.
